The DST/SARIMA Excellence Awards was initiated in 2014 to celebrate excellence in R&I Management in Southern Africa. Whilst acknowledging the importance of R&I Management in national and regional systems of innovation, the awards encourage growth and achievement in the field of R&I Management as a key enabler of research and innovation towards global public good.
The winners of the various award categories for 2017 were announced at the annual SARIMA conference gala dinner, which took place on 29 May 2018, in Muldersdrift South Africa. The awards were presented to the winners by Dr Phil Mjwara, Director-General of the South African Department of Science and Technology and the SARIMA President, Ms Ela Romanowska.
