SARIMA will mark it’s 20th anniversary in 2022. The Association has come a long way since its inception, and what better way to celebrate its many achievements and the contribution it has made to the development of research and innovation management in Southern Africa, and beyond, than to mark the occasion with a truly global networking experience for its members, sister organisations (WARIMA, CARIMA, EARIMA) and a host of other partners, on a tropical island paradise. The annual SARIMA conference will be integrated with the INORMS congress in 2022, and will have cross-cutting themes that will attract research managers as well as innovation/technology transfer managers. This is appropriate, given that innovation is the process to facilitate the end use, whether social or commercial, of research. It will support a dynamic mix of content and speakers from across the continuum of these disciplines, as well as from regions within Africa, and across the globe.
SARIMA’s Vice President for Research Management, who was instrumental in securing this opportunity, says that “The choice of Mauritius as the idyllic location offers an opportunity for delegates to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday city life, and immerse themselves in debate and knowledge sharing with like minded professionals, under the theme Towards a Utopia in Research and Innovation Management. Mauritius also offers a unique fusion of French, Indian and African dialects, cuisine, music, culture and traditions – all of which will contribute to making the congress a truly global experience.”
