Dear SARIMA members and stakeholders,
It is a great privilege for me to serve as the incoming President of this terrific membership organisation, which has played a pivotal role in my own career trajectory.
Having attended my first SARIMA conference in 2004, it was there that I found a network of like-minded professionals – people who spoke my language! I’ve attended numerous training and development workshops offered by SARIMA over the many years since then. The annual conferences, just like our recent 2019 conference in Somerset West have always been great fun and offered me critical learning and networking opportunities.
My vision for SARIMA over the next two years is therefore to ensure that the organisation remains a source of identity, inspiration, networking, support, development – and fun! – for professionals like yourselves; that we strengthen SARIMA’s network and activities across the countries in Southern Africa; and that being a member of SARIMA is regarded as a coveted asset by you personally, as well as by the organisations that employ you.
I would like to ask you to remain actively involved in SARIMA activities throughout the year – even after the excitement (and post-gala dinner headaches) of the past annual conference has faded. Please use the development and professionalization opportunities on offer through the organisation. Please encourage your R&I management friends and colleagues to become registered SARIMA members. Please help us to build a thriving and active organisation – this can only happen with the help and involvement of each and every SARIMA member.
Thank you again to Ela and all past-Presidents and committee members for their dedicated service to build the SARIMA that we have today over many years. I am grateful to be joined in my term as President by a group of committed and excellent committee members, who will assist me in leading the organisation to even greater heights. Looking forward to an exciting two years ahead!
