November 2021
When applying for professional recognition applicants have to capture their research management and administration competence, experience, contributions and achievements and substantiate that with evidence. As part of this portfolio of evidence, applicants are also required to capture their completed training. The IPRC recently introduced a training point system to encourage participation in quality training for research managers and administrators to advance their competence. Training can be submitted to the IPRC’s Training Endorsement Committee (TEC) and be awarded training points. In general, one hour of training will equal 1 training point. These training points can be used when applying for professional recognition and also when renewing or upgrading an awarded designation.
At the IPRC meeting on 16 November 2021 the TEC Chairperson, Prof Olanike Adeyemo reported that the first workshop to be awarded training points was a workshop on Ethics and Integrity that was held as a SARIMA pre-conference event. The guidelines and request form for the allocation of training points will be on the IPRC website soon and a list of endorsed training offerings will be maintained on the website.
Prof Adeyemo has encouraged all the research management associations from across Africa to have their research management and administration training endorsed.
