Building on the strength of the partnership between the South African Department of Science and Technology (DST) and SARIMA, this project was initiated in 2018 to build on key activities undertaken through the “Strengthening R&I management in SA and the broader SADC region” project, however focused only on the South African R&I ecosystem.
- Project activities are focused on fast-tracking the development of Technology Transfer professionals through support for achieving professional recognition status through the Alliance of Technology Transfer Professionals (ATTP)
- Development and delivery of virtual courses in Research Management (RM) and Technology Transfer (TT) in order for more people to access such training and at a cheaper cost;
- Piloting an “entrepreneur-in-residence” programme to accelerate technology commercialisation in public research institutions, continuation of RM and TT Forums to strengthen these communities of practice
- Educating more researchers through the IPWise™ programme in partnership with the National Intellectual Property Management Office (NIPMO).
