SARIMA Communities of Practice
A SARIMA CoP is a member-led group of research and innovation management (RIM) practitioners who share an interest in and passion for a specific area within Research Management (RM) and/or Innovation & Technology Transfer (I&TT) and build and share best practices through regular interaction.
Strategic Context
Establishing CoPs is a strategic imperative to strengthen the SADC RIM ecosystem, building collective effectiveness and value to empower RIM networks to take ownership of their learning and drive impact, and foster a vibrant, empowered community of practitioners.
Vision
To support, facilitate, and promote best practices and the professionalisation of RIM through collaboration, training and networking, strengthening regional R&I systems for socio-economic development and impact.
CoP focal areas
Research Ethics & Integrity
The focus of the CoP-REI is Research Ethics and Integrity (research compliance). These COPs are geographically and regionally located in South Africa inclusive of members from SADC countries and we encourage more SADC members to join and contribute to these exciting initiatives.
Research Outputs, Outcomes & Impact
Research and innovation administrators and managers, researchers and more who are informally bound to one another through exposure to common challenges and pursuit of solutions including knowledge translation and brokering.
Financial Research Administration & Management
To strengthen financial governance, compliance, costing practices, post-award management, and institutional capacity across member institutions.
Research Information Management Systems
Research Information Management Systems (RIMS), and their integration with other administrative systems, which are essential for ensuring efficiency, compliance, reporting, and evidence-based decision-making. Research Offices across South Africa and the wider SADC region are increasingly adopting digital systems to manage the research lifecycle.
Research Contracts & Compliance
With a focus on Research Contracts and Compliance, the RCC-CoP provides a collaborative platform to address these challenges holistically. In the increasingly competitive global research landscape, universities must navigate a complex landscape of legal, ethical, financial, regulatory and compliance requirements to secure and manage research projects and funding effectively.
