December 2020
I am representing SARIMA on the Innovation Council, which includes a South African grouping of SMMEs and SARIMA, led by Trod Lehong, as well as members from different global regions and big pharma. It is based in Geneva and interacts with a variety of inter-governmental organisations such as the WHO, WTO, WIPO, etc.
“The Innovation Council (About – Innovation Council ) shares perspectives about innovation and the policies that best support it with policymakers and others who are working to develop solutions to the world’s biggest challenges. Our perspectives are shaped by our members’ diverse experiences in bringing new technology solutions to people. We advocate for enabling innovation policy frameworks, such as effective IP systems, that are rooted in empirical evidence and that will support technology development and diffusion, across sectors, over the long-term.”
We will be asked to share local news that is relevant to global policy development and also will be interviewed so that case studies can be generated. I am sure other members of SARIMA will be drawn into this too.
