In 2019, SARIMA in partnership with two consulting companies based in the UK i.e. Research Consulting and Consort Strategy undertook a high-level needs assessment of research systems in seven African countries, namely, Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Nigeria and Tanzania. The study was funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) and identifies the main challenges to research capacity strengthening, and some priority areas for intervention, in order to support decision-making at DFID and among national partners.
